Whitby is famous for its fish and chips, but has an abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants to suit everyone. Whitby is host to an increasing number of popular festivals including the bi-annual Goth weekender, a regatta and steampunk events to name but a few, as well as a chance to explore the older East Cliff cobbled back streets.

Further afield you can visit the medieval walled town of York with its network of shops and bars, Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum.

Lightwater Valley and Flamingo Land theme parks are within easy reach, as are the many coves and villages dotted along the Yorkshire Heritage Coastline, many with links to explorer James Cook. Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes are just two that have stories of old pirates and smuggling.
